IT Infrastructure Engineer
Naarden (en/of Bunnik), Noord-Holland, NetherlandsDatacenter Service Team
Job description
The company
DMP is the best-known data management specialist in the Netherlands, and DMP is on the rise worldwide as well. With over 90 specialists, divided over offices in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and South Africa, we serve more than 350 customers worldwide, with our reliable and cost-effective data management solutions.
In 2020, DMP has been acquired by The Digital Neigborhood provider of IT, data, and cloud solutions. With this acquisition, DMP (internationally) is growing even faster. Want to grow with us?
That’s you
Are you excited about building a new virtualisation environment, and completely automating systems? About discussing the best solutions for backups, storage and disaster recovery with colleagues, suppliers, and customers? And about improving our own Data Management as a service platform, including connecting our customers environments to this platform? If it’s a YES to all these questions, then you're the one we're looking for!
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our platform team.
You like dealing with multiple components within one environment. You know all about storage and server systems, and you can build and cable systems independently within our datacentres. Operating systems like Linux or Windows don’t have secrets for you, and you have several years of experience working with hypervisor platforms such as ESX or Hyper-V.
Besides these tasks, you are used to working in a team of specialists, in which everyone has their own responsibilities, and people do not hesitate to point this out to one another.
Within DMP it is not just about technology, but the right soft skills are equally important. You will work in an international team, so we require fluent speaking and writing skills in English.
What your day looks like
Our team is responsible for managing our DataManagement as a Service platform that runs in the datacentre locations that we purchase for this purpose . In addition, we perform system administration and server management at our customers, who use the related appliances.
We do this together, remotely or on location (often in Naarden at our sister company Pink Elephant). So, one day you will be at the datacentre, and the next day you will be resolving a malfunction with the help of a colleague or remote hands engineer of a datacentre or hardware supplier.
Later that day, you dive back into the automation environment to perform updates, or you improve the Ansible code that is used to deploy new virtual machines within the environment. As you can see: every day is different in this role!
Of course, you cannot run an environment properly without checks. Therefore, we have a monitoring environment that generates alerts if something goes wrong. These alerts are received by the person working the day shift. You will perform these checks on a weekly basis.
In our environment we work with products including:
- Windows Server and Windows Hyper-V
- VMware ESX and Horizon
- Ansible for automation
- Dell server hardware
- NetApp storage systems
- LogicMonitor
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Office 365
We are looking for a colleague who has experience with these products and who would like to expand or specialize further.
Job requirements
Why this is for you:
+ You are analytically strong;
+ Professional and intellectual capacities at MBO / HBO level;
+ You have a passion for service, administration and a proactive attitude;
+ Good command of the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing.
We are of course very happy to have you as a new colleague!
In addition to a challenging position at unique locations, we therefore offer you a salary that is in line with what your colleagues in the industry earn and we have good secondary conditions such as:
- Opportunities to grow (training, certification, webinars and knowledge sharing sessions) because we value your potential as much as your current skills;
- 1 on 1 guidance in the form of a buddy;
- A company car, laptop and phone;
- Hybrid working opportunities;
- Various side activities (think of boot camp, social projects, incentives).
If you decide to join us, you will join a professional team that loves results. The atmosphere is informal, with short communication lines. Your growth is important to us, so you will receive all the space and tools to learn and grow! Do you want to know more about this challenging position or about DMP?
